It’s been a long time since I wrote anything here and a lot has happened in the mean time. first of all the big news is that I got a job in the industry! I started an 18 week work term with a local company called Norex on May 1st 2017. I worked on a few small projects and learned a lot of things I didn’t get a chance to learn in school. I gained a lot of knowledge in PHP and Git specifically. The company rebranded part way through my work term to Code and Mortar and they decide to hire me on as a full time developer! I’ve been working there ever since then and I really enjoy it. It’s a big change from all the jobs I’ve had in the past.

Android App Disaster
For my Android development class I was asked to make an app that used fragments and had a responsive design. It also needed to use SharedPreferences to save the state of the app so the next time it was opened it would be at the same spot. This seemed fun and interesting so as soon as I had time I jumped on it.

Went to my first powerlifting competition
After a couple years of casually strength training I decided that I would compete in a powerlifting competition. There was one held on October 22nd and I signed up for it. Having heard about the even much earlier in the year, I wasn’t too sure if I would compete or not but when a spot opened up about 2 weeks before the competition I decided to jump on it.
